Mission Statement:
To improve the quality of life of individuals worldwide by providing them
with the "Gift of Sight".
Inspiration:
The Gift of Sight project was initiated to honor a very special
family member. Decades ago my grandfather underwent an eye
operation which left him blind in one eye. I realized, as I
heard this story when I was 14, how important vision is in an
individual's life. I then created this program,
partnered with Georgia LIONS Lighthouse
Foundation whose mission is to
foster sight conservation and restoration, and hearing conservation,
with a particular emphasis on youth.
My collection of eye glasses are sent
to those who are the poorest of the poor. I began collecting used prescription eyeglasses,
frames, broken frames, lenses, sunglasses, and reading glasses.
When I created this program, my goal was to collect 5000 glasses by
the time I graduated from high school. I am now 18 years old and
am months away from graduation. I am ecstatic to say I have
collected over 6000 pairs of glasses in the past 3 and 1/2 years, and
this number increases daily.
If you have any used glasses or broken frames that you wish to donate
to please consider supporting my Gift of Sight project.
